Both shows fully booked. All seats reserved.

For two nights during the last weekend of October Anna Estarriola will guide the audience on a journey into a unsettled character and work with its existential concerns.

SHOW is a piece in which desires, expectations and concerns are brought into light and meticulously studied using voice, body movement and moving image. How do one find strategies to communicate with one self and with others? In SHOW the protagonist is a scattered being. Accompanied by its own subconscious it is confronted with a series of disorienting events. Confused and lost entities and spirits appear in form of analog and digital projections. The narrative is nurtured by a growing turmoil in the main character. It dissolves into a self amplifying maelstrom of ego-debris and perversions; to find its way through its own inner void it visualizes the invisible and projects new images to which it can relate to and understand.

Estarriola’s illusionary techniques play with perception. She uses simple tools and tricks to create complex and grand visions that behave in supernatural ways. Her practice is known for being a vivid mix of visual, performative and media arts. Her cross disciplinary pieces include sculpture, technology and elements from theatre and dance. The topics often address the friction and communication between the individual and the surrounding community.

Anna Estarriola (b.1980 in Catalonia) lives and works in Helsinki. She holds two Master of Fine Arts degrees, one from the sculpture department at the University of Barcelona (2004) and one from the time and space department at The Finnish Art Academy (2009). Her work has been on display at galleries and theaters internationally, as solos or in collaborations. In 2015 she received the AVEK prize. She is currently working on a year grant and this year she was also granted a 3-year working grant from the Arts Promotion Center Finland. Her next solo exhibition will be in Forum Box in february 2016. Her works are included in the collections of Kiasma, Museum of Contemporary Art / Finnish National Gallery and Saastamoinen foundation.
