Have you ever wondered what might come about if you did something completely different from what you do now?
The Nine Lives Museum is an exhibition of creative work. The works on displays are pieces that the artists would not otherwise have created.
Visitors to this exhibition can experience a flower shop, collections, gesture, sound, light, painting and The Phantom as well as stories, music and ritualistic objects. Alongside these works, sources for this work and the material gathered throughout the working process are also on display. The Nine Lives Museum organises, archives and presents this material according to its own logic.
An integral part of the exhibition is The Nine Lives Museum Guidebook.
The exhibition as a whole is related to every museum and lost-and-found department in the world, and we would like to express our warm thanks to these institutions. This exhibition has been made possible by a culture of helping one another and the fact that, alongside the presentation of our finished work, we can share our own art, thoughts and professional skills in an interactive dialogue with others.
The Nine Lives Museum presents works by eight artists and collectives. The featured artists are Maija Blåfield, Happy Magic Society, Mikko Kallio, Pasi Mäkelä, Sini Pelkki, Pia Sirén, Miroslav Varga and Ilona Valkonen.
The Nine Lives Museum has been collated by Maija Blåfield and Ilona Valkonen. Numerous others have helped to realise the individual works.
We would like to wish you a warm welcome to our opening on 28th November 2014 from 6pm–8pm.
Our opening evening will feature a flower shop for the use of museum guests. Proceeds from the sale of flowers will go towards funding the works on display.
This exhibition has been supported with generous funding from the Arts Promotion Centre Finland, the City of Helsinki and the Swedish Cultural Foundation in Finland.
